What good plastering work looks like
The visible finish is the last five per cent of a plastering project. What determines whether it lasts is the preparation underneath: correct substrate, correct fixings, correct tolerances and the right material for the exposure and the loading it will see.
We specify to manufacturer detail and to current British Standards, and we do not shortcut preparation to hit a price. Where a competing quote is materially cheaper it is almost always because preparation, waste disposal, making good or certification has been left out — ask for the written scope and compare line by line.
London-specific considerations
London properties add constraints that inflate the real cost of plastering: restricted parking and permit zones, no side access, shared stairwells and lifts in flats, conservation area controls, freeholder and managing agent consents, and neighbours within a few metres of every operation.
We plan logistics before we start — skip permits, material drops, working hours, dust and noise control — and we include those costs openly in the quotation rather than adding them later as extras.
